Because students need to be at school and in class, independent study is strongly discouraged. Parents of students who must be absent for five or more school days, but not more than 15 school days, and have a valid reason should apply for Independent study. An application can be picked up from the Attendance Office and must be turned into the office for approval by the principal or his designee at least five (5) days prior to the requested absence date. If approved, full attendance credit will be given only if all independent study assignments and student work is completed upon the day of return to the regular program. Students who are not in good academic standing or have poor attendance may be denied independent study.
